What Material is your Service Line?
The Village of Wilmette has been compiling an inventory of each water service line and its material. This inventory is part of a state mandate that water systems develop a comprehensive water service line inventory. Information on water service line material is based on a variety of methods the Village is currently using to aid in their inventory process including use of construction and permit data, review of past capital projects, residents self-reporting, and field verifications. The inventory results will be used to develop a long-term plan to replace lead service lines.
The Village has created an interactive map that displays water service line materials on both the public and private sides. This tool allows residents to see where lead service lines exist within the community.
