Frequently Asked Questions

Construction of the Village of Wilmette’s Phase 1 Lead Service Line Replacement Program was financed by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project includes the replacement of approximately 134 lead and galvanized water service lines. Once complete it will improve water quality for area residents and businesses within the Phase 1 Project Area by removing lead water service lines and a reducing a properties overall exposure to lead. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
